“Popular corrections”

A new “Popular corrections” tab has been added in the “Popular Entries” section.

“Popular corrections” lists comments which have been added to a lot of  notebooks or have received a lot of Native Nod points recently.

1. Select “Popular” from the “Other contents” menu.

 

2. Click on “Popular corrections”

Popular corrections will be listed and ordered by either “Native Nod Points” or “Notebook Points”

You can change the language of listed journals using the language tabs on the left hand side.

3. To see the list of corrections which received the most “Native Nod Points”, click on the “Native Nod Points” tab.

To see the list of corrections which were bookmarked most frequently, click on the “Notebook” tab.

How to modify “notification e-mails settings”?

Using the “Mail Settings” system, you can specify when to receive emails from Lang-8.

1. Please access the settings page via the top-right menu.

2. Click on the [Nortifications Settings] Tab.

Choose “Yes” for items about which you’d like to receive notification e-mails.

Choose “No” for items about which you’d like to stop receiving notification e-mails.

**If you’d like to stop any notification e-mails from @lang-8.com, choose “No” for all items.

3. Click on [Save] to finish.

What do the 3 icons on a profile page mean?


  :the number of times you have corrected a journal
  :the number of times you were given a star rating.
  :the number of times you were given a thumbs up.

Isn’t there variation in language proficiency among native speakers?

Language ability varies to some extent even among native speakers.


However, for typical foreign language students,
being corrected by a native speaker is extremely helpful, as native speakers can point out the subtle nuances and original meaning of words and instinctively understand the essentials of the language.
Besides, it is better to learn not just from books and from lessons, but also learn common expressions by getting feedback from a native speaker.
